This rolling workbench is a tool chest and a work surface in one. The 48 x 20 in. top is brushed stainless steel: it shrugs off oil, solvents and hot parts, and wipes clean after an engine or bike job. Below it, the slate gray steel base has a stack of six drawers on full-extension ball-bearing slides on the left - two shallow ones for sockets and screwdrivers, four deeper ones for power tools - an open bay in the middle for a toolbox or a shop vacuum, and a cabinet with an adjustable shelf on the right for cases and bottles. Full-width aluminum pulls are easy to grab with gloves on. The whole unit rolls on four 5 in. casters that all lock, so it stays put while you work and moves to the car or the driveway when you need it.

Care

Clean the stainless steel top with warm water and mild soap or a stainless cleaner, wiping in the direction of the brushed grain, then dry it to avoid water spots. Do not use steel wool or chlorine bleach. Wipe the powder-coated base with a damp cloth, keep the drawer slides free of grit, and check that the caster brakes lock firmly.

Installation and safety

Place the workbench on a flat, level floor and lock all four casters before you work. Spread heavy loads across the whole top, clamp work pieces securely before you saw, drill or plane, and keep children away from tools. Assembly needs two adults and basic hand tools.
